Frequently Asked Questions

How do I complete a KashXpress Money Order?
The following information should be completed IMMEDIATELY upon purchase of a KashXpress Money Order:

  1. Pay To the Order Of: Name of the individual/organization to whom the money order is payable
  2. Purchaser, Signer for Issuer: Signature of the purchaser of the money order (IMPORTANT)
  3. Address: Address of the purchaser of the money

    Other IMPORTANT information:
  4. Money Order Number: The money order number is printed in several locations on the money order, including the stub, the bank code line (the number at the bottom of the money order) and, in large block numbers, on the side or upper right hand corner of the money order.
  5. Detach stub: Only remove the detachable receipt stub. Money order receipts are on a detachable side stub. Purchasers should retain the money order number and receipt stub for their records. This number is required for tracking purposes.

Can I change the name on the "Pay To The Order Of" line if I make a mistake?
No, alterations cannot be made to a completed money order.

The purchaser may take the money order to a check cashing agent or depository institution and follow the endorsement instructions of that agency. The purchaser may also obtain a refund form available on the website and send the original money order along with a copy of the money order stub, and a refund check will be issued.

Do money orders have an expiration date?
If the money order is not used or cashed (presented for payment) within six (6) months of purchase date there will be a non-refundable administrative service charge, where permitted by law. The administrative service charge will be deducted from the face value shown on the money order. The administrative service charge shall be a monthly charge equal to $2 of the face value shown on the money order for each month retroactive to the beginning of such six (6) months period, or if lower, the maximum amount permitted by the law. The administrative charge assessed at the end of the six (6) months period shall be applied retroactive to the date of purchase.

Should I keep my money order receipt?
Yes, all records are kept by the money order number found on your purchaser's receipt (stub). KashXpress does not keep any records by name or date of purchase.

If you do not retain your money order receipt with the money order number, KashXpress offers a research service for a fee of $20 per money order. This research can take 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Our ability to find your money order is dependent on the accuracy of the information you provide. The fee for this service is non-refundable. The money order tracing/refund request form is available online.

Where can I cash a KashXpress Money Order?
A KashXpress Money Order can be deposited into a bank account or cashed at many check cashing outlets or other retailers, subject to the policies of the cashing location. Some cashing locations may assess a service charge to cash a money order. Most cashing locations will require proper ID.

How can I determine if my KashXpress Money Order has been cashed?
If you have retained your money order number, KashXpress offers 24-hour automated money order status information by calling 1-866-591-4069. KashXpress customer service representatives are also available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. CST Monday-Friday.
